I was fortunate to seek help from Philipa during ‘lockdown’ .
I have struggled with long term joint issues related to a childhood hip problem. This caused a difference in leg length and a pronounced limp. As a result of coping with this for many years I developed an on going back issue and also had a hip replacement in 2007. I now have a touch of arthritis in the opposite knee. To add to all this I have a rotator cuff and neck problem (work related).
I had read about the Alexander technique and felt that improving my posture would help. I had several sessions with Philipa via Zoom and found them extremely useful. Philipa has a very calm and understanding approach. I realised that the Alexander technique is not just about posture but also improving the way we move. I haven’t needed any more sessions but I continue to remind myself how to move and hold myself, especially when the odd ‘niggle’ creeps back!!
I would definitely recommend Philipa to anyone who has musculoskeletal problems, her methods are very straightforward and easy to put into everyday practice. Our poor posture and the way we hold ourselves is the root of a lot of peoples ailments (not just joint issues)
